SPOILER ALERT!
As you can see, a trio of posters have just been released in order to promote ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ which swings into theaters on May 2nd, 2014. In the images, you can clearly see Spidey (Andrew Garfield) facing off against three… yes three super villains. We already knew that he’d be battling Jamie Foxx as Electro and Paul Giamatti as The Rhino (even though we have yet to see him in CGI super mode). But while it’s been rumored, it wasn’t previously confirmed that Spider-Man would face the Green Goblin… until now!
In the center poster, you can clearly see some variation on the Green Goblin flying across the skyline. However, it’s been all-but confirmed that the Goblin in this film will be Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), the son of notorious mad scientist Norman (Chris Cooper). Further, it appears that this Goblin will hew closer to the Ultimate version, making an actual physical transformation, not just putting on a colorful suit.
Here is the movie’s synopsis:
“We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself, the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2,’ Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.
It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.”
If that weren’t enough, Sony has also released these five new images from the film (Click to enlarge):
