fantastic beasts 2 cast

We’ve known for a while that ‘Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them 2‘ wouldn’t be the title of the sequel to the latest set of films in the Potterverse and now Warner Brothers has released the official title: ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’! Not only is the title out but they’ve also included a look at the complete cast including Jude Law in the role of a younger Dumbledore which fans everywhere have been clamoring for. With the sequel exactly a year away it seems like we’ll be getting the first round of marketing soon and the official title is a great way to kick that off.

Movie titles seem to be a big thing these days as it took us forever to find out what the Han Solo spinoff was would be called and we still don’t know the names of ‘Deadpool 2‘ or ‘Avengers 4‘. Thankfully, this is one movie we won’t have to continue waiting on a name for!

At this time we know that the cast will include Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterson, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Jude Law as a young Dumbledore, and Johnny Depp. Who else might show up is still unknown.

What is fun about finally seeing a younger Dumbledore is that director David Yates has been hyping the casting saying things about Jude Law such as:

“I’ve long admired and I’m looking forward to finally having the opportunity to work with him. I know he will brilliantly capture all the unexpected facets of Albus Dumbledore as J.K. Rowling reveals this very different time in his life.”

With Dumbledore clearly being heavily included in the series going forward it was fun to learn exactly how prominent Johnny Depp’s Grindelwald will be in at least the second movie of the new series.

Synopsis:

“At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings.

In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.”

‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’ will be released on November 16th, 2018!
