After a successful release in 2014, fans clamored for more ‘Big Hero 6’. With Hiro, Wasabi, GoGo, Honey Lemon, Fred, and Baymax gaining quite the following, many assumed that a sequel was coming sooner rather than later. And while we’re not necessarily catching up with the heroes of San Fransokyo on the big screen just yet, we will be seeing more of the team’s adventures thanks to an animated series on Disney XD that is set to premiere later this year. But before the show makes its debut, the Mouse House brought a little sneak peek to San Diego Comic-Con.

To celebrate the upcoming release of ‘Big Hero 6: The Series’ this fall, Disney XD unleashed the show’s opening sequence at last week’s D23 Expo (as seen above). But to keep the party going, the network shared the first clip from the show during this year’s SDCC. From the episode titled ‘Fred’s Bro-Trillion’, the brief sneak peek sees Hiro and Baymax trapped inside the lair of the the villainous Baron Von Steamer with little to no hope of escape. You can check out what unfolds in the video below courtesy of Screen Rant, followed by the official synopsis of the series:

[‘Big Hero 6: The Series’] picks up immediately following the events of the feature film and continues the adventures and friendship of 14-year-old tech genius Hiro and his compassionate, cutting-edge robot Baymax. Along with their friends Wasabi, Honey Lemon, Go Go and Fred, they form the legendary superhero team Big Hero 6 and embark on high-tech adventures as they protect their city from an array of scientifically enhanced villains. In his normal day-to-day life, Hiro faces daunting academic challenges and social trials as the new prodigy at San Fransokyo Institute of Technology.

As anticipated, the animation style went from 3D to 2D, which may be a bit jarring to some viewers. However, with the return of the majority of the original cast (minus T.J. Miller and Damon Wayans Jr.), it should ease doubters into the show fairly easily. Plus, with stories continuing in various other mediums such as comics, web shorts, audio dramas, and novels these days, fans likely won’t mind all that much as long as their getting more stories from this beloved world. But until we’re able to dive into those new stories, let us know what you think about ‘Big Hero 6: The Series’ and its first clip in the comments.

‘Big Hero 6: The Series’ starring Maya Rudolph as Aunt Cass, Jamie Chung as Go Go, Scott Adsit as Baymax, Ryan Potter as Hiro, Genesis Rodriguez as Honey Lemon, Khary Payton as Wasabi, Brooks Wheelan as Fred, Alan Tudyk as Alistair Krei, David Shaughnessy as Heathcliff and Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee as Fred’s dad comes to Disney XD this fall.
