defenders

As Marvel Studios’ films continue to build towards ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ this year with ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’, ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, and the upcoming ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, Netflix’s corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is just about ready to complete the journey that they set out on all the way back in 2013. Following the successful runs of ‘Daredevil’, ‘Jessica Jones’, ‘Luke Cage’, and (to a lesser degree) ‘Iron Fist’, the House of Ideas’ street level heroes will finally come together in ‘The Defenders’. And in anticipation for the crossover’s premiere later this summer, Marvel and Netflix unveiled a brand new trailer in the hallowed Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con.

During their jam packed Friday night panel at the annual mecca of pop culture, the team of Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, and Finn Jones were joined by showrunner Marco Ramirez, Jessica Henwick, Deborah Ann Woll, Elodie Yung, and Sigourney Weaver to debut the second trailer for the highly anticipated superhero team up. And even if you’re not looking for super friends, that’s exactly what you’ll get here as the quartet of heroes gear up for a war to save New York City. You can check out the preview below, followed by the official synopsis of the series:

Blind ninja. Smart-ass detective. Bulletproof ex-con. Kung Fu billionaire. Marvel’s The Defenders centers on four outsider heroes that have to put aside their personal issues and come together when a villainous sect threatens to destroy New York City as we know it.

There’s so much to be excited about in this brief look at ‘The Defenders’. First, the tease of Daredevil vs Elektra is almost too much to handle. Then, the menacing tactics employed by Weaver’s mysterious villain throughout the video. But how about that sneak peek at the hallway fight scene featuring all four of our heroes kicking some ass? This particular scene has become a trademark of the Marvel Netflix series and True Believers are without a doubt looking forward to see how it’s done with the whole team.
