As Nick Fury, Samuel L. Jackson helped build Marvel’s Cinematic Universe and now is feeling a bit left behind. He hasn’t been in any of the films since ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron, ‘ and it sounds like he really wanted to be in the upcoming ‘Black Panther‘ film. While not the spy thriller he would normally be in, Wakanda might have been an interesting place to lay low assuming he had any dealings with their King and was on good terms with them.

Something I feel would be unlikely with the nation’s secretive nature.

During an interview on Sirius XM about ‘Kong: Skull Island’ where Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson were also in attendance, Jackson expressed how he wasn’t too happy with how things currently are playing out. Specifically, his lack of inclusion in ‘Black Panther.’

“I can’t go to Wakanda, for some reason. I’m the only black character you’ve got in the Marvel universe right now, now for some reason when you do a black Marvel movie; I can’t show up in Wakanda? Okay, fine. I’ll meet him later.”

I know that Luke Cage doesn’t count due to being on Netflix but what about War Machine, Black Panther himself, or Falcon? Don’t get me wrong. I love Jackson as Nick Fury and want Marvel Studios to find another part for him, but this may just not have been the right time to bring him back. It doesn’t thematically feel like the type of film that Fury would make an appearance in and if Jackson returns I want him to have a meaty role, not a minor cameo.

Granted, who could blame him for wanting to work with the cast of the film which includes Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Angela Bassett, Daniel Kaluuya, Forest Whitaker, and Sterling K. Brown?

While I would like to have seen him included, I also feel that if he does reappear it will somehow be related to S.H.I.E.L.D. or some other high-end spy situation.

Do you think that Nick Fury should have been part of ‘Black Panther’ or would he be a better fit in another Marvel Studios film in the future? Share your thoughts below True Believers!

‘Black Panther’ starring Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, and Danai Gurira hits theaters on February 16, 2018.
