More casting is coming in for ‘Black Panther‘ as Marvel Studios has just tapped Winston Duke (‘Person of Interest‘,’The Messengers’) to play M’Baku who is more commonly known as Man-Ape. Directed by Ryan Coogler, Duke will be joining a cast which stars Michael B. Jordan, Danai Gurira, and Lupita Nyong’o. While a long-standing enemy of Black Panther, visually the appearance could truly use an update assuming they have him in any sort of armor in the film. It’ll be interesting as to how many enemies that Black Panther will have as many suspected that Klaw would be making an appearance after the events of ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ introduced him.

The comic iteration of the character always portrays M’Baku as one of the most powerful warriors in Wakanda and a chief rival to T’Challa. A ruler in his own right, M’Baku governs over a micronation within Wakanda known as the Jabari Tribe. There have been instances where he has tried to take over Wakanda itself with the two having a large variety of disputes over the years.

It is hard to tell if they are going to go the same route for the character as he was in the comic though I suspect if they do that at the very least we’ll get a more updated costume design for when he is rocking the Man-Ape look.

‘Black Panther’ starring Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, and Danai Gurira hits theaters on February 16, 2018.
