IMAX and ABC have teamed to bring the newest Marvel Comics property to the big screen. After many seasons of setup in ABC’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’, the Inhumans are coming! This innovative partnership will bring Marvel’s cosmic powered Royal Family to life in an eight-episode miniseries, the first two episodes of which premier in IMAX theaters.
The series is set to premier in September and is sure to involve lots of post-production, beginning with the IMAX development process, not to mention the extensive effects needed to recreate the characters’ super human powers. That means production has begun! Signs of the production…and even cast members have been spotted in Oahu, Hawaii.

And one of the stars even posted a shot from either a set or nearby:
We previously reported on the casting of four of the main cast, ‘Hell On Wheels’ alum Anson Mount as King Black Bolt, Serinda Swan who previously played another superhero DC’s Zatanna on ‘Smallville’ and who is now playing the Inhuman Queen, Medusa, ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ and ‘Lost’ star Ken Leung as Karnak and ‘Game of Thrones” Iwan Rheon as Maximus the Mad.
And with filming beginning, we have a shot of Anton Mount suited up as Black Bolt thanks to a tweet from Reel News Hawaii:
In addition to the four already mentioned, we’ve learned that the cast is (mostly) complete! Joining Mount, Swan, Leung and Rheon will be the stars depicting comic book characters Gorgon, Triton, Crystal a more obscure character, Auran and… a mystery role!
Eme Ikwuakor has dabbled in film, most notably in an uncredited role in the 2015 Will Smith vehicle ‘Concussion’ but has mostly worked on TV, having starred on series such as ‘We Are Angels’ and ‘Extant’ and more recently ‘How To Get Away With Murder’ and ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’. On ‘Inhumans’, Ikwuakor will play Gorgon, who is described as:
Gorgon is the cousin of Black Bolt and a member of the royal family who is the leader of Attilan’s military. With super strong legs, complete with hooves, he can generate destructive seismic waves with a single stomp. The ying to his cousin Karnak’s yang, Gorgon would rather fight than talk to solve his problems.
Mike Moh may appear familiar to genre fans… or at least he will provided ‘Inhumans’ doesn’t obscure his features with too much makeup and special effects. He will be playing the amphibious Triton. In the past, he’s had action-packed roles on ‘Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight’ and ‘Supah Ninjas’. He also played Ryu in two miniseries based on the video game ‘Street Fighter II’. Lately he has moved into more “legit” television, with a role on ‘Empire’. His ‘Inhumans’ part is described as:
Triton is Black Bolt’s cousin who is calm under pressure and supremely athletic. His gift is his fish — like the ability to live underwater.
Isabelle Cornish has starred on the series ‘Puberty Blues’ and ‘Home and Away’. She will be playing Crystal:
Crystal is Medusa’s sister and the youngest member of the royal family who has the ability to control the elements. Impetuous and independent she is also deeply devoted to her family.
One actor who may be at home filming in Hawaii is Sonya Balmores, who has appeared in several projects filmed there, including the shows ‘Beyond the Break’, ‘Hawaii Five-O’, TV movie ‘A Midsummer’s Hawaiian Dream’ and the feature ‘Soul Surfer’ and the upcoming ‘Kuleana’. Balmores joins the ‘Inhumans’ as the slightly obscure Auran:
Auran is head of the Royal Guards on Attilan, a capable and no-nonsense woman. She is fiercely loyal to the King of Attilan.
Ellen Woglom has also been added to the cast, but in an undisclosed role.
The mystery character is smart, intense and focused — so focused that oftentimes social skills take a back seat. Her job at a private aerospace company is her life, second only to her passion for all things space and lunar. She’s primed to be swept up in an adventure.
Woglom has appeared in numerous high profile TV roles on shows such as ‘Castle’, ‘Chicago P.D.’, ‘Chicago Fire’ and ‘The Glades’.
Executive producer Scott Buck sang the praises of these newest additions:
“With Eme, Isabelle, Mike, Sonya and Ellen portraying the rest of our leading roles, we have a strong cast that is going to add tremendous depth to our Royal Family.”
And it wouldn’t be the ‘Inhumans’ without Lockjaw! And he is briefly-but-accurately described as “The sizable pooch has the ability to teleport.” He’s also been spotted during filming:
