Game of Thrones Ramsay Bolton

Throughout the Seven Kingdoms, there was no bigger bastard in all senses of the word than the sick and sadistic Ramsay Bolton. But when his reign of terror came to an end on ‘Game of Thrones’, the acclaimed actor behind one of the most hated villains on television in recent history was freed up to take his range of talents elsewhere. And though he could have taken a wide range of roles, it appears that Iwan Rheon will be continuing to show off his sinister side as he’s set to head to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for his next project.

According to Marvel.com, the actor will be featured in the upcoming ABC series ‘Inhumans’. The former ‘Misfits’ star will play Maximus Boltagon a.k.a. Maximus the Mad, who is “a clever and charming Inhuman that is fiercely devoted to the people of Attilan, especially his brother, the King – although he harbors an intense desire to wear the crown himself”. Executive Producer and Marvel Television Head Jeph Loeb had the following to say about Rheon’s casting:

“Iwan’s ability to be charming, roguish, and still completely unexpectedly dangerous were all the different sides we needed to bring the character to life. We’re thrilled to have him on board.”

Though we may have inadvertently discovered one of his co-stars already, Rheon is the first official cast member announced for the highly anticipated show from the House of Ideas. But with a production as big as this one, it’s not surprising that the studio gets the ball rolling with an immensely talented performer with a very wide range. After all, the series is the product of an unprecedented deal between IMAX, ABC Studios, and Marvel TV that will see the first two episodes directed by Dutch filmmaker Roel Reiné premiere on about 1,000 IMAX 3D screens during a limited two-week engagement prior to debuting on ABC in September. But now that we know the first member of the MCU’s version of the Inhuman Royal Family, we can only imagine what other awesome talents are currently in talks to join Rheon as Black Bolt, Medusa, and the others.

How incredible is it that Iwan Rheon is playing Maximus in ‘Inhumans’? Do you think that Marvel Television could have found a better actor to take on this role? And does anyone else feel like he’ll be channeling the best parts of his characters from ‘Misfits’ and ‘Game of Thrones’ into one performance for this series? Sound off in the comments below.
