Just days after Lionsgate unleashed their action-packed, CGI-filled trailer for Dean Israelite’s ‘Saban’s Power Rangers’ a couple of enterprising fans have already remixed it and tied it closer to the original ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ TV show.
First, Youtuber user Sebastian Hughes has recut the new trailer and set it to the original “Go Go Power Rangers’ theme song and shuffled things up to actually resemble the original opening credits. Check it out below:
The official ‘Saban’s Power Rangers’ trailer included a snippet of Kanye West’s ‘Power’ but it was previously announced that the new movie will, in fact, feature an updated version of ‘Go Go Power Rangers’. Since it wasn’t used in the trailer, we’ll have to wait a bit longer to find out what it sounds like and if it stands up to the classic original. The original was written and produced by Ron Wasserman, under the alias Aaron Waters, The Mighty RAW.
That’s not all! The Youtube channel Neo-Saban’s Power Rangers has taken clips from the new trailer and mixed them with footage from the first episode of ‘MMPR’ entitled ‘Day of the Dumpster’ in an effort to compare and contrast these two interpretations. This clip can be a little jarring, but it’s still a neat comparison.
One thing is for sure, the new trailer has actually managed to please most fans of the original with its emphasis on the Rangers gaining their powers and actually wearing their suits and piloting their Zords. The footage of Rita, Goldar, the Putties and Zordon are also impressive. There had been some concern that Lionsgate hadn’t put out a new trailer in months, but now it seems the wait was worth it.
‘Saban’s Power Rangers’ arrives on March 24. Are you ready?
