thor-ragnarok

For as much as we’ve seen from ‘Thor: Ragnarok‘ with images of Thor in a new look and both he and Hulk getting into brawls in other realms, we haven’t known exactly what to expect from the third and potentially final ‘Thor’ film until today’s synopsis reveal. Not only that, but we’ve also been graced with a brand new behind the scene image of Chris Hemsworth all decked out.

We already know that for returning characters we would have Mark Ruffalo back as the Hulk, Tom Hiddleston would be returning as Loki, and both Idris Elba and Anthony Hopkins reprising their roles. Newcomers will include Cate Blanchett as Hela, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, Karl Urban as Skurge, and Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie.

How does it all tie together, though? Let’s take a look at the synopsis, shall we?

In Marvel Studios’ ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk!

Clearly, we’re going to be getting aspects of the ‘Planet Hulk’ story arc here and it could be really fun if they have him go all out as he did in the comics. Not only that but we’ve learned that Hela is the ultimate villain of the film and Thor is going to be without Mjolnir for part of the film which is a predicament which has happened numerous times in the comics and is also the current case as he has been temporarily found Unworthy.

It is hard to see how it will all play out and while I’ve loved the ‘Thor’ Franchise to date, I know that I’m in the minority here though can’t help but feel we might have the first real ‘Thor’ hit on our hands.

Here is a quick behind the scenes shot to enjoy as well with director Taika Waititi setting up a shot with Chris Hemsworth.
