Alien: Covenant

While all we really care about right now when it comes to Michael Fassbender (‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’,’Inglourious Basterds’) is if he can pull off ‘Assassin’s Creed‘ and delivery a solid video game adaption he did just share some details on another project that he is working on – ‘Alien: Covenant.’ While ‘Aliens’ was the first horror film that I remember seeing and had a huge impact on my future film watching we all know what the majority of viewers thought of ‘Prometheus’ so I suppose a spoiler about a new xenomorph is one that might actually help audiences want to come back for more.

So if you want to head back now, there are some potential spoilers below!

First up is the nickname that the cast and crew have given this new alien and it is called a “Neomorph.” While that isn’t the official name in the film, it likely won’t have one, the new name does hint at a new shape.

And remember that black goo from ‘Prometheus’ has been sweeping through a new planet? The crew of ‘Covenant’ stumbles across the planet and it has affected the local plant life and created a new pod that bursts open when someone is close to it. These new spores burst forth infect their hosts in quite a deadly and explosive fashion.

Think of it as a new take on how the Chestburster from the original set of films worked only now this Neomorph will busts out from someone’s back or throat. The new creature is a mix of the Deacon from ‘Prometheus’ and a pale alien with a longer tale which will be slightly transparent. They also run on all four legs like the aliens from ‘Alien 3’.

So what do you think? Are you looking forward to a new type of Xenomorph in ‘Alien: Covenant’? Share your thoughts below!

Synopsis:

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

‘Alien: Covenant’ directed by Ridley Scott, starring Katherine Waterston, Michael Fassbender, Billy Crudup, Jussie Smollett, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Callie Hernandez, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Benjamin Rigby and Alexander England arrives in theaters August 4, 2017.
