Even though Ridley Scott’s newest ‘Alien’ movie and ‘Prometheus‘ sequel is current in post-production preparing for an August 4th 2017 release date, that does not mean we will not still be getting some information about ‘Alien: Covenant‘ from other sources. Case in point, Collider recently had an opportunity to sit down with one of the stars of the film, Michael Fassbender, who spoke on the tone of the new movie and how he is excited to see the film go back to its scarier elements, things that made the origin films of the series so memorable:

“I have to say, this Alien is going to be – I’m really excited to see it and everybody in the film was saying that there’s a film that we all wanna see. It’s much scarier than ‘Prometheus,’ but it’s got that sort of same scope as ‘Prometheus,’ that imminent sort of disaster feel that ‘Alien’ had. So it’s kind of a beautiful meeting of both of those films. I’m really excited to see it, I think it’s gonna be super scary, number one. And again, with the massive scope of ‘Prometheus’… Yeah, you know once it starts and the ball starts rolling, it’s definitely going to bring chills to the cinema.”

All of which is great to hear, as ‘Prometheus’ felt a little heavy on exposition and while it had a foreboding tone, most would agree the thrills and scares were not on par with what we normally came to expect from the ‘Alien’ franchise. However, with news that some of the original creatures of the series will be making their big screen return in ‘Alien: Covenant,’ as well as Fassbender’s thoughts on the movie, we can rest easy knowing that Ridley Scott even at this moment is preparing some fantastic thrills for us.

What are your thoughts on Fassbender’s comments? Do you think Scott will be able to capture the magic of the originals in ‘Covenant?’ Sound off with your opinions in the comments below!
