We’ve known that there are huge changes coming to ‘The Mummy‘ by having a female take on the character and now we’ve got our first look at Sofia Boutella as this classic horror monster! While we already had a good view at Tom Cruise‘s look in the film, I’m honestly a little less excited compared to finally being able to check out the villain. I am wondering, though, if we’ll be seeing both Boutella and Cruise in the series going forward or just Boutella.
Let’s check out The Mummy whose set photos have been popping up on Twitter with a look that really feels more demonic than what we’ve had in the past.

If that isn’t enough for you, there are also a ton of shots you can check out over at Just Jared.
I have to say that I do like the modern take on the character but think that the true first look will be done in post with additional special effects and how she interacts with the other leading characters is revealed.

Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen (Sofia Boutella of ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ and ‘Star Trek Beyond’) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her, is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.
From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, ‘The Mummy’ brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.
‘The Mummy’ will be unwrapped on the big screen on June 9th, 2017!
