Bumblebee

If you were a fan of the classic ‘Transformers’ cartoon growing up then this ‘Bumblebee‘ trailer is the one for you. Not only are we getting a heavy dose of Cybertron in it but visually the Autobots and Decepticons feel a lot more like their original iterations. It probably helps that this takes place in the 80s so it can easily use some of the more classic vehicle stylings.

The introduction to this trailer doesn’t deliver much in the way of original footage, but about halfway through things start to pick up a bit on both action and a few Transformers that fans are sure to recognize.

I’m not going to lie, as much as I have enjoyed the mindless spectacle that the ‘Transformers’ movies have been so far if they had looked like this the entire time I would have been fully bought into the franchise. Baysplosions, bad plots, and all.

Thank you, director Travis Knight, (‘Kubo and the Two Strings’) for finally giving us an Optimus Prime that can make fans of the source material happy and the inclusion of some of our other fan-favorites looking how they used to is just a huge bonus.

On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.

‘Bumblebee’ will be transforming your local theater into the 80’s on December 21st, 2018!
