With the release of ‘Star Wars: Rogue One‘ coming at the end of this year, Disney/LucasFilm has done a fairly decent job of keeping much of the storyline and plot details under wraps; however, the patented Disney marketing machine will soon be firing at full throttle to raise awareness for the film, so expect lots of peripheral, non-spoilery-type news to start dropping in the next few months.  To that end, posted online today on the Edelweiss catalog was a 10-page preview of the “Official Visual Story Guide” for the movie, and the preview pages give us lots more info on the characters and visuals of the film.

Curiously, the book itself isn’t scheduled to go on sale to the public until January 24, 2017 – almost a month after the movie will hit American theaters.  The preview pages of the Official Visual Story Guide seem to show that it will be presented in a similar vein to that of the “Star Wars: The Force Awakens Visual Dictionary.”  That book contained a wealth of peripheral Star Wars information, so odds are good that this new release will do the same.

In the immediacy, we have gleaned some info from the preview pages.  Primarily, we have a character listing given on the page “Heroes of the Rebel Alliance.”  Listed characters include:

  • Jyn Erso (played by Felicity Jones) – “a highly skilled soldier and warrior.”
  • Captain Cassian Andor (platyed by Diego Luna), “Rebel Alliance officer.”
  • Baze (played by Jiang Wen), “a freelance assassin.”
  • K-250, “an enforcer droid.”
  • Bodhi (played by Riz Ahmed), “a Rebel soldier.”
  • Pao, “a fierce warrior.”
  • Chirrut (played by Donnie Yen), “a spiritual warrior.”
  • Bistan, “a fierce warrior.”

K-250, Pao, and Bistan all appear to be CGI characters, with K-250 having his own preview page dedicated just to him – he’s an Imperial Enforcer droid that appears to have defected to the Rebel Alliance and likely holds key information on how the Rebels can effectively infiltrate the Death Star.

Below are all the preview pages, which hold much more content and info for you to peruse!  Of special interest is the new ship designs on both sides, as well as the inclusion of Darth Vader on multiple pages, leading one to speculate that odds are good we will see the Helmeted One in the film itself.

[UPDATE: It has come to our attention that the images were unintentionally leaked so we have taken them down at our own discretion]
