Charmed

Alyssa Milano stirred up excitement among fans, when she mentioned that she and her fellow ‘Charmed’ castmembers would be up for a reunion of their bewitching cult classic series which aired from 1998-2006 on The WB (now known as The CW).

Milano recently spoke to Entertainment Tonight regarding the possibility of a reunion and said:

“It seems like that’s going to happen any second. I just feel like with all these reunions, and we still have such a cult following, that I feel like someone’s going to put that together at some point.  And we’re all totally on board for that!”

Milano starred as Phoebe Halliwell, with Holly Marie Combs as her sister Piper and Shannen Doherty as her other sister Prue, who was later replaced by Rose McGowan as Paige.  The Halliwell sisters come from a line of witches and soon discover they each possess magical powers, which they use to get into and out of danger.  The show was a fun mix of humor and action and blended in perfectly with The WB/CW bunch, which at the time also included ‘Buffy’ and ‘Angel’ and later spawned ‘Supernatural’ among others.

With ‘Fuller House’ blowing up Netflix and getting renewed for a second season almost immediately after premiering, 90s nostalgia is officially the new 80s nostalgia.  That’s not even mentioning ‘The X-Files‘ which some found disappointing, but was still a ratings smash on FOX, and CBS’ in-development ‘Xena’ reboot.

It looks as if CBS is actually working on a ‘Charmed’ reboot… but that’s a REBOOT not a REUNION.  (This has actually been cooking since 2013.)  Milano took to Twitter after her earlier remarks created a lot more buzz than she probably anticipated, to clarify the current status of ‘Charmed’:

Unlike Lucy Lawless, the star of ‘Xena’ who announced that her action hero days were behind her, the ‘Charmed’ sisters are still pretty young and their powers wouldn’t require the same degree of stunt work that playing ‘Xena’ would.  And they could still bring in younger family members to pass the torch to, without sending the Halliwells out to pasture.

Are you interested in a potential ‘Charmed’ reboot without the original cast?  Or will you pass if Milano, Combs and McGowan (and maybe even Doherty?) are left out?
