Ryan Murphy is bringing back another familiar face to ‘American Horror Story: Hotel‘ as Lily Rabe (‘The Whispers’,’All Good Things’) has just been cast as a serial killer for the upcoming season. Rabe’s return should be no surprise to fans having already been in all of the first four seasons of the popular horror series on FX. Previously she has the crazy mother/ghost Nora Montgomery in the first season, in the second season she played Sister Mary Eunice, in the third season she was the hippie witch Misty Day, and Freak Show she showed up to reprise her role of Eunice in a flashback scenario.

While we don’t know much about her character so far she is said to “portray a famous murderer who has stayed at the titular hotel.” Of course at this time we don’t know if she’ll be based off of an actual murderer or one created just for the ‘American Horror Story’ universe. With a greater tie in to previous seasons, I suspect that unless this is set during the events of ‘Asylum,’ this will be as a different character as having the demon who possessed her in the previous season and bringing her back to life seems to be a bit of a stretch even for the anthology series. Murphy has previously teased that we could see a couple of actors reprising their roles. It is still too early to know if the focus on the series will be the hotel itself, the staff, or the guests staying there.

In the upcoming season Rabe will be joining a cast full of familiar faces as well as new talent which include Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Evan Peters, Finn Wittrock, Chloe Sevigny, Wes Bentley, and Cheyenne Jackson. Also we may still luck out and see retired actress Jessica Lange return to the series for a brief cameo. One can only hope!

Are you happy to hear that Rabe is returning once more to ‘American Horror Story’? Would you want her serial killer to be an entirely new character or somehow a demon

You’ll be able to check into ‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ this October on FX.
