Coming off her amazing performance on the Oscars, Lady Gaga has been announced as the first confirmed casting for Season 5 of ‘American Horror Story.’

Of course, details about her role and what the premise of next season’s storyline is still being kept under wraps, but what is known is that she will definitely be the central focus and star of the next chapter. No other cast members have been announced. This all comes after Jessica Lange’s planned exit from the series at the end of last season’s ‘Freak Show’ but reports have said she did leave the door open (albeit slightly) for a cameo depending on what is written for her and her new character.

Lady Gaga made the announcement on her Twitter account as well as revealed the subtitle of the next anthology which will be called ‘Hotel’:

As for other returning cast members, some may not be coming back beyond possible guest roles as Sarah Paulson is set to star as Marcia Clark in Murphy’s other FX series ‘American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson’ and Taissa Farmiga recently signed on to co-star in ABC’s anthology ‘L.A. Crime.’ Kathy Bates, however, is expected to return but no word yet if Angela Bassett will be joining her.

This isn’t the first acting gig for the flamboyant singer but it certainly is her biggest role to date. Lady Gaga has made appearances in ‘Men in Black 3,’ ‘Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For’ and ‘Machete Kills’ as well as numerous appearance on the big screen playing herself. She joins Stevie Nicks and Adam Levine as other celebrated musicians who have graced the ‘AHS’ franchise.

At last month’s Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour, FX CEO John Landgraf teased that the fifth season of ‘American Horror Story’ would be “very different” from other season and viewers should expect “an unusually large reinvention.”
