I’m a huge fan of the original ‘Child’s Play’ movie. Yes, we all know they spiraled far into the lands of camp, but the original was a well put together horror film. With it’s creator Don Mancini on board to make the newest sequel I was getting a little excited. This direct to DVD sequel is going back to its roots of horror and now I am even more excited. (Enough to ignore that it was a direct to DVD sequel.)
So I’m really happy to see we’ve got a clip from the film to show off today. Yes we’ve had both a trailer and a red band trailer for the film but it’s full on clips for something like this that really give you a feel for the mood of a movie.
I know there are many fans of the campyness of the later films. As a fan of the first one, though, I am happy to see this return to its horror filled roots and just wish it was going to be on the big screen. I think the series is still ripe for a chance to be scary and work in a proper horror filled context.
I just hope they do the concept justice this time around. The trailers are keeping me positive so far and it delivers on the promise of the return to it’s roots. The interaction we’ve seen between Chucky and the girl really brings up the feeling of suspense that the franchise has been lacking for quite awhile.
Check out the clip below and tell us if you agree!
Nica is grieving over the gruesome suicide of her mother when her domineering older sister Barb arrives with her young family in tow to help settle their mother’s affairs. As the sisters butt heads over Nica’s plans for the future, Barb’s young daughter comforts herself with a grinning, red-haired talking doll named Chucky that recently arrived mysteriously in the mail. But as a string of brutal murders begins to terrorize the household, Nica suspects the doll may hold the key to the bloodshed. What she doesn’t know is that Chucky has a personal score to settle. He’s determined to finish a job he started more than 20 years earlier, and this time he’s going to see it through to the bloody and shocking end.
