Back in 2011, Stephen Spielberg and Stephen King joined forces to adapt the novel ‘Under The Dome’ into a TV series for Showtime. However, after lying dormant there for some time, the project moved to CBS a few months ago and received a straight to series 13-episode order. No waiting for pilots to be approved for this show. In fact, we can already set our eyes on the first look at the show.
According to Deadline, the network decided to air a sixteen second spot during the Super Bowl on Sunday. While we don’t really get actual footage, it is a nice tease to wet the audience’s whistles. You can check out the spot below:
Starring Colin Ford, Natalie Martinez, Britt Robertson, Jolene Purdy, Nicholas Strong, and Alex Koch, the show follows the people of a small New England town that gets secluded from the rest of the world by an invisible, impenetrable dome. Here’s the full synopsis of the 2009 novel:
On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day, a small town is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and rain down flaming wreckage. A gardener’s hand is severed as the dome descends. Cars explode on impact. Families are separated and panic mounts. No one can fathom what the barrier is, where it came from, and when—or if—it will go away. Now a few intrepid citizens, led by an Iraq vet turned short-order cook, face down a ruthless politician dead set on seizing the reins of power under the dome. But their main adversary is the dome itself. Because time isn’t just running short. It’s running out.
Written by ‘Y: The Last Man’ scribe Brian K. Vaughn, ‘Under The Dome’ is set to premiere on Monday, June 24th on CBS.
