Syfy must have loved the pilot for the Dark-Horse comic ‘Resident Alien‘ series as they’ve just officially ordered the first season of this adaptation. The original comic was by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse and will star Alan Tudyk (‘Firefly’,’Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’) in the leading role. Chris Sheridan (‘Family Guy’), as well as Dark Horse Entertainment’s Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg, are executive producing the series alongside Amblin Television’s Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank. David Dobkin (‘The Judge’) directed and was an executive producer on the pilot episode which helped Syfy decide to pick up the show.

Starring with Tudyk are Sara Tomko, Corey Reynolds, Alice Wetterlund, and Levi Fiehler. The series will move forward with production this summer.

For those unfamiliar with the comic, it is described as a “twisted and comedic fish-out-of-water story” which follows Tudyk as Harry who is an alien who crash-lands on Earth. He takes over the identity of a small-town doctor in Colorado and has a moral dilemma weighing over him over the secret mission of why he is actually on Earth. His goal is to decide if humanity is actually worth saving or not.

The pilot was ordered nine months ago, and it isn’t a surprise that Syfy is looking to pick up new shows. Having just canceled ‘Nightflyers,’ ‘Z Nation,’ and ‘Channel Zero’ there were already three slots which they had to fill, not including a multitude of shows which are entering their final seasons on the network.

Are you looking forward to seeing ‘Resident Alien’ land on Syfy? Do you feel that this is a series which the network might keep around instead of canceling prematurely or will this one be allowed to run its course? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
