Even though the world premiere of ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ has already occurred, Peter Jackson has still managed to keep Smaug still cloaked in secrecy. Fans of Tolkien and ‘Lord of the Rings’ have been anxiously waiting to see how the epic dragon would be portrayed on the big screen and now we have the first look (okay, glimpse) of the mighty creature in the newest TV spot for the film.

While we don’t get to really see the dragon, we do get a 2 second blimp of the damage he can cause as we see him attack a city. Unfortunately we also don’t get a chance to hear him speak which would have been a real treat as Benedict Cumberbatch is voicing the creature.

While rumors have been circulating that Smaug’s presence has been bumped to the second film in order to expand ‘The Hobbit’ into a trilogy, seeing him in the trailer still gives no indication of how much we’ll get to see of him in the first film. Hopefully it will be more than just a second.

You can catch the TV spot below then let us know what you think of it in the comments below.

At least we know we have another think to look forward to when ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ is released on December 14th!
