It’s been 8 long months since the last trailer for ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ hit the web (the one released last month with the 3 snippets of new footage added to the original trailer doesn’t count) and from the looks of this one, it was worth the wait!

The new 2½ minute clip is filled with unseen footage and focuses on the beginning of Bilbo Baggins’s quest to help the dwarves reclaim their homeland by defeating the dread dragon Smaug.  This is a great trailer for those not familiar with the book (yes, there are some who have yet to read ‘The Hobbit!’) as it breaks down the plot and explains why Gandalf chose Bilbo as the last member to join the dwarves.

The visuals are epic and beautiful as the film returns to Middle Earth and the glimpses of Gollum and Elrond give a lingering desire to watch the ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy again before this film comes out.

Thanks to director Peter Jackson, this trailer is a great addition to help celebrate Tolkien Week!
