Walking Dead Character Is Walking Over To Fear The Walking Dead

Austin Amelio’s Dwight was shaping up to be a major player on that series but was last seen in Season Eight when Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) spared his life on the condition that he leave and never return.  The former Savior will be shifting over to companion series ‘Fear the Walking Dead’.  This follows the relocation of Lennie James‘ Morgan, who similarly moved from the original series to the spin-off last year, following the death of the show’s former lead, Madison Clark, portrayed by Kim Dickens.

‘Fear the Walking Dead’ was never a huge hit in the same manner as the main show, but it looks as though AMC is dedicated to keeping it around by reinventing it.  Most of the original characters have been written off, with only Alicia Clark (Alycia Debnam-Carey), Victor Strand (Colman Domingo), and Luciana Galvez (Danay Garcia) remaining.  The cast was joined by Jenna Elfman (as Naomi ?), Garret Dillahunt (John Dorie), and Maggie Grace (Althea) last season.

‘Fear the Walking Dead’ was previously separated from ‘The Walking Dead’ by time.  ‘Fear’ began during the earliest days of the zombie outbreak and depicted people as they grappled with the mind-bending situation around them.  But it underwent a time jump, bringing it up to speed with ‘The Walking Dead’ and allowing Morgan to step in as the show’s new focus.

Despite the lower ratings, ‘Fear’ has retained its own following and has found its footing with critics, some of whom have labeled this series as being better than ‘The Walking Dead’, which is seeing is popularity plummet.  ‘The Walking Dead’ however, remains AMC’s strongest show and as such, the network is committed to not only keeping it around but continuing to mine this world for additional projects, including the upcoming TV movies centered on Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes.

Dwight will reportedly have headed to Texas after leaving the Saviors and others behind, which is where his story will intersect with the rest of ‘Fear the Walking Dead’.  The series will return for its fifth season at an undisclosed date this year.
