A new clip from the upcoming film,  ‘Carrie,’ has been released and boy is it fun. For those of you unfamiliar with the highly anticipated revamp, here is the official synopsis to get you on Team Carrie:

A re-imagining of the classic horror tale about a Carrie White (Chloe Grace Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom.

Based on the best-selling novel by Stephen King, Carrie is directed by Kimberly Peirce with a screenplay by Lawrence D. Cohen and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.

The clip focuses on Carrie getting ready to go to her senior prom and her mother begging her to stay home and repent. She believes that she’s been invited as a prank and is fearful of her imminent humiliation. Now, Carrie is trying to overcome her mother’s overbearing psychotic tendencies, but sometimes parents need to be put in their place.

The content in the above clip just oozes with an intensity that may not have been found in the original version of the film. Don’t get me wrong, Sissy Spacek KILLED IT as Carrie White and has gone down in the books as an all time fan favorite for her role, but it seems like a stretch that she’d be disappointed with any of the performances of the leading ladies of the remake.

What makes this remake so hopeful, cause lord knows the current remakes of other horror classics (‘Texas Chainsaw 3D’ can eat it) have been less than satisfactory. With powerhouse actresses such as Moore, Moretz and Judy Greer, it would be shocking if it turned out that the new adaptation does anything but blow us all away. I will go on record saying that I pray to sweet baby Jesus that they don’t overdo the CGI or the fake blood. There, I’ve said my piece, now all I can do is go into my closet.

Here’s the full trailer again for those that didn’t catch it the first time around:

I think the casting is what is going to set this one apart from all of the remake wanna-be’s but only time will tell. Let us know in the comments section below if you plan on seeing ‘Carrie’ in theaters Oct. 18th.
