‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ was a huge hit, based on the idea of teenagers getting sucked into a video game and inhabit the bodies of different avatars. For the sequel, ‘Jumanji: The Next Level’, the humor element has been upped by introducing Danny DeVito as Spencer’s grandfather Eddie, and Danny Glover as his friend Milo, allowing Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart to portray old men on the inside.
How did this Hollywood magic take place? Well, not this way! Johnson shared a video on Instagram in which DeVito explains how he “became” The Rock for this new film. You can check it out below:
‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ became Sony’s highest-grossing movie of all time at the domestic box office. (It was outdone by ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ at the global box office.) So a sequel was always in the cards, and like the first, ‘The Next Level’ is banking on the busy holiday season to make it a hit.
Along with Johnson and Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, and Nick Jonas are back as the video game avatars, and Rhys Darby returns as Nigel Billingsley, the NPC game guide. The new movie also introduces Awkwafina as another video game character. Colin Hanks is back as Alex Vreek, along with Ser’Darius Blain as Anthony “Fridge” Johnson, Madison Iseman as Bethany Walker, Morgan Turner as Martha Kaply, and Alex Wolff as Spencer Gilpin. Jake Kasdan, who directed ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ returned for the sequel.
In Jumanji: The Next Level, the gang is back but the game has changed. As they return to Jumanji to rescue one of their own, they discover that nothing is as they expect. The players will have to brave parts unknown and unexplored, from the arid deserts to the snowy mountains, in order to escape the world’s most dangerous game.
Get ready to level up when ‘Jumanji: The Next Level’ opens on December 13, 2019.
