Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle

Alex Wolff, Ser’Darius Blain, Morgan Turner, and Madison Iseman (L-R) are returning for the sequel to ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’.  These young stars played high schoolers Spencer Gilpin, Anthony “Fridge” Johnson, Martha Kaply, and Bethany Walker, respectively.  After the kids get detention, they find a dusty old video game console and when they try to play it, they find themselves sucked into the jungle adventure of ‘Jumanji’.

Inside the game, Spencer becomes the hulking hero Smolder Bravestone, played by Dwayne Johnson, while Fridge’s avatar is zoologist Franklin “Mouse” Finbar, played by Kevin Hart.  Martha becomes the bombshell dance-fighter Ruby Roundhouse, portrayed by Karen Gillan, and after a misunderstanding, Bethany finds herself trapped in the body of Jack Black’s paleontologist, Professor Sheldon “Shelly” Oberon.  The cast also included Nick Jonas as the video game character Jefferson “Seaplane” McDonough, a.k.a. actor Mason Guccione, who had been trapped since the 1990s.  When he returned to reality, the older Alex was portrayed by Colin Hanks, who was uncredited.

Jake Kasdan, who directed ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ is returning for the sequel, as is the principal cast of Johnson, Black, Gillan, and Hart.  Newcomers include Awkwafina, Danny DeVito, and Danny Glover.  Kasdan co-wrote the screenplay with Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner, who both contributed to the script for the first.

Since ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’, Wolff has starred in the acclaimed horror flick ‘Hereditary’, the Netflix original ‘Dude’, and the romantic comedy ‘Stella’s Last Weekend’, in which he starred with his brother Nat, with whom he had starred on Nickelodeon’s ‘The Naked Brothers Band’ when they were younger.  Blain can be seen in The CW’s reboot of ‘Charmed’, while Iseman starred in ‘Goosebumps 2’, along with Black.

Production on the sequel is expected to begin soon, as the movie is due in theaters on December 13.
