Ruby Roundhouse Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle Karen Gillan

While some productions are under strict media lockdown, the followup to ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ isn’t one of them.  Dwayne Johnson, a.k.a. video game avatar Smolder Bravestone posted an image on Instagram, revealing that not only does his character have a new outfit, with a leather vest and long sleeve shirt, but so does Karen Gillan‘s Ruby Roundhouse.

In the first movie, this dance fighter was clad in a tight crop top and short shorts, which raised some eyebrows, but the outfit made sense as she was presumably a female video game character designed by men.  But luckily for Gillan, Ruby get a more practical outfit for the sequel.

Like Smolder, Ruby now wears long sleeves and pants, plus a heavy-duty vest with fur lining.  Does this imply that the gang will leave The Jungle and head toward a colder climate?

‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ was a surprise smash for Sony and became its top-grossing movie.  In that picture, four teens are sentenced to detention and while cleaning out their high school’s basement, come across an old ’90s-era video game console, loaded with the cartridge for ‘Jumanji’.  But when they try to play it, the teens are sucked into the game as whatever character they were playing.  With only three lives to burn, they must play through the entire game in order to return to the real world.

Johnson’s Bravestone is the alter ego of nerdy outcast Spencer Gilpin (Natt Wolfe), while Ruby is the avatar for Martha Kaply (Morgan Turner), another introvert.  They are joined by Ser’Darius Blain as Anthony “Fridge” Johnson who takes the form of Kevin Hart‘s Franklin “Mouse” (not “Moose”) Finbar, and Madison Iseman as Bethany Walker who misunderstands and plays as Professor Sheldon “Shelly” Oberon, portrayed by Jack Black.

All of the stars of the first movie, including the “teens” are back for the sequel.  Also back are Nick Jonas as game character Jefferson “Seaplane” McDonough, and Rhys Davies as as Nigel Billingsley, the NPC in-game guide.  They will be joined by newcomers  AwkwafinaDanny DeVito, and Danny Glover.

‘Jumanji 3’ is set to open in theaters on December 13, 2019.
