SPOILER ALERT: This information may be a SPOILER for ‘The Mandalorian’, so proceed with caution or turn back now.
Rian Johnson doesn’t have anything directly to do with ‘The Mandalorian’, but the creators of the various ‘Star Wars’ projects have a tendency to check in on each other and that includes visiting each others’ sets. Johnson he recently spoke to The Wrap revealing he visited the set of Jon Favreau’s ‘The Mandalorian’ series and shared his love for the fandom’s latest obsession, Baby Yoda.
“He’s amazing! I visited the set of The Mandalorian a month ago, and I spotted Baby Yoda in the corner and the producer shot me a look as if to say, ‘You can’t say a word!’ I’ve been holding that secret in my heart for forever now. And the memes are amazing. I’m very pro-Baby Yoda.”
So what’s the spoiler? ‘The Mandalorian’ began streaming on Disney+ three weeks ago. Johnson visited the set a month ago, so obviously, he had to remain silent about Baby Yoda. But if he visited the set a month ago, then he was visiting during the filming of Season 2, meaning that Baby Yoda is in those episodes! He doesn’t die in Season 1 — not that they would ever do that to this fragile fanbase. Can you even imagine? But he also doesn’t get handed off to a safe home, freeing The Mandalorian up to go back to his cutthroat bounty hunting.

No, the struggle to safeguard Baby Yoda will stretch into the second season, which should arrive sometime in 2020. (Hopefully not in late fall again, though. That would be excruciating!) We’re about half-way through the first season. There are only eight episodes, and the second season will be just as long (or short).
Are you happy that Baby Yoda will continue to be a presence on ‘The Mandalorian’ is Season 2?
