After the success of Todd Phillips’ psychological thriller ‘The Joker’, there has been some talk about Warner Bros. and DC possibly producing spin-off films for the villains who appear in Robert Pattinson’s ‘The Batman.’

The full details on ‘The Batman’ have yet to be disclosed, but we know that Pattinson’s Dark Knight will cross paths a number of classic villains, including Catwoman (Zoe Kravitz) and The Riddler (Paul Dano). There will also be a few scenes set in Arkham Asylum, home of the most notorious criminals.

According to reports by Variety, Warner Bros. and DC believe that the villains mentioned above possibly could have their own solo spin-off films. The report also stated that key cast members who will appear in ‘The Batman’ opposite Robert Pattinson have already been offered contracts for either sequels or standalone films.

While the full synopsis for ‘The Batman’ is still undisclosed, the film will follow a younger Bruce Wayne during the years he developed his persona as Gotham City’s protector, making use of the Caped Crusader’s detective skills more than previous DC films.

The Matt Reeves directed film comes from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin and stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, Jayme Lawson as Bella, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. It was recently reported that Colin Farrell was in talks to play the Penguin. The film is also said to be the first in a planned trilogy featuring Pattingson’s Batman.

‘The Batman’ hits theaters on June 25, 2021.
