New The Expanse Season 4 Trailer Teases The Return Of Thomas Jane's Joe Miller
Amazon Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video has released a new trailer for Season 4 of ‘The Expanse’ ahead of its December 13 kick-off date.  Perhaps because this show started out on Syfy, where it ran for three seasons, the new trailer begins with a brief recap/overview of the events from past episodes.  (Of course, after Amazon decided to salvage ‘The Expanse’, it offered the prior seasons to binge.)  Amazon is banking on ‘The Expanse’, having already ordered a fifth season.

Burn Gorman joins the cast as Adolphus Murtry, chief of security for Royal Charter Energy (RCE) aboard the Edward Israel, and he seems to play a large role in the upcoming episodes, as he is heavily featured in the new clip.  There is also a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo of original cast member Thomas Jane as Detective Josephus “Joe” Aloisus Miller, which should please longtime fans.

‘The Expanse’ was created by Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, with Naren Shankar acting as showrunner.  The series is based on the novels by James S.A. Corey, and is set in the distant future as the Earth has begun settling other planets.  This has led to a fragile political system, with one ragtag group caught in the web of conspiracy.  The series is produced by Alcon Television Group.

“The fourth season begins a new chapter for the series with the crew of the Rocinante on a mission from the UN to explore new worlds beyond the Ring Gate. Humanity has been given access to thousands of Earth-like planets which has created a land rush and furthered tensions between the opposing nations of Earth, Mars and the Belt. Ilus is the first of these planets, one rich with natural resources but also marked by the ruins of a long-dead alien civilization. While Earthers, Martians, and Belters maneuver to colonize Ilus and its natural resources, these early explorers don’t understand this new world and are unaware of the larger dangers that await them.”

The cast includes Steven Strait as James “Jim” Holden, the captain of the Rocinante; Shohreh Aghdashloo as UN Deputy Undersecretary Chrisjen Avasarala; Dominique Tipper as engineer Naomi Nagata; Cas Anvar as Martian pilot Alex Kamal; Wes Chatham as mechanic Amos Burton; and Frankie Adams as Martian Marine gunner Roberta “Bobbie” Draper.  For Season 4, the cast has added Burn Gorman, Lyndie Greenwood, Rosa Gilmore, Keon Alexander, and Jess Salgueiro.

The fourth season of ‘The Expanse’ arrives on Amazon on December 13.  The previous three are available to binge now.
