‘The Expanse’ is expanding into new territory.  It took some doing, but after being axed by Syfy, the Hugo Award-winning show was salvaged by Amazon, which has ordered two additional seasons, bringing its total to five.  The series is set in the far future, after the Earth has set up colonies throughout the solar system, but a group discovers a conspiracy that threatens the tense peace between Earth and Mars.

The fourth season begins a new chapter for the series with the crew of the Rocinante on a mission from the UN to explore new worlds beyond the Ring Gate. Humanity has been given access to thousands of Earth-like planets which has created a land rush and furthered tensions between the opposing nations of Earth, Mars and the Belt. Ilus is the first of these planets, one rich with natural resources but also marked by the ruins of a long-dead alien civilization. While Earthers, Martians, and Belters maneuver to colonize Ilus and its natural resources, these early explorers don’t understand this new world and are unaware of the larger dangers that await them.

Season 4 stars: Steven Strait as James Holden, the captain of the Rocinante; Cas Anvar as pilot Alex Kamal; Dominique Tipper as Belter engineer, Naomi Nagata; Wes Chatham as Earther mechanic, Amos Burton; Frankie Adams as Martian Marine machine gunner, Bobbie Draper; and Shohreh Aghdashloo as UN Deputy Undersecretary, Chrisjen Avasarala.

Season 4 will also feature, in recurring capacity: Chad L. Coleman as “The Butcher of Anderson Station,” Fred Johnson; Cara Gee as Camina Drummer, captain of the Behemoth; David Strathairn as Klaes Ashford, executive officer of the Behemoth; Thomas Jane as The Investigator; and Nadine Nicole as Clarissa Mao.

Those in attendance at New York Comic Con were treated to the first episode of Season 4.  For the rest of us, here is the new trailer:
