John Boyega Shares A New Look At Finn In 'Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker'
Lucasfilm LTD/Disney

With ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ opening in December, the veil of secrecy is starting to lift ever so slightly.  The latest scoop is a photo posted by John Boyega, of himself in the role of Finn, in the rocky, desert-like landscape previously glimpsed in the trailers.

Check it out below:

No, there isn’t a lot that can be inferred from this image.  It’s just Finn on a rock.

Boyega originated the role of Finn in ‘The Force Awakens’.  He was a Stormtrooper who then switched sides to the Resistance.  In ‘The Last Jedi’, he befriended Rose Tico and the pair set out to disable a tracking device that the First Order was using against the Resistance.  It remains to be seen what role Finn will play in this final ‘Star Wars’ installment.  Boyega has stated that he doesn’t think Finn will return after this picture.

‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’, the ninth and final film in the “Skywalker Saga,” was directed by J.J. Abrams, the same director that handled ‘The Force Awakens’.  In addition to Boyega, the cast includes Naomi Ackie as Jannah, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, Adam Driver as Kylo RenCarrie Fisher as Leia Organa, Domhnall Gleeson as General Hux, Richard E. Grant as Allegiant General Pryde, Greg Grunberg as Snap Wexley, Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Billie Lourd as Lieutenant Connix, Ian McDiarmid as Emperor Palpatine, Lupita Nyong’o as Maz Kanata, Daisy Ridley as Rey, Keri Russell as Zorii Bliss (of Zorri Bliss, I’ve seen it spelled both ways), Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Kelly Marie Tran as Rose Tico, Jimmy Vee as R2-D2, and Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian, with Dave Chapman and Brian Herring as BB-8.

‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ opens in theaters on December 20th.
