Fans of ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ usually want to know more about The Borg and Patrick Stewart has confirmed that we’ll be learning quite a bit in his upcoming CBS All Access series ‘Star Trek: Picard‘. We can all remember how Jean-Luc Picard was assimilated into the Borg Collective in “The Best of Both Worlds,” turning him into Locutus of Borg. That pivotal moment in the series is one that would follow him throughout the rest of the TNG’s televised and theatrical run. It would also play a part in both the pilot of ‘Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’ and be felt in ‘Star Trek: Voyager’ once we were introduced to Jeri Ryan‘s Seven of Nine.

We’ve already known that both Seven would be returning as well as Hugh from the episode “I, Borg” but now Stewart has offered a new tease of what we’ll learn about the Borg and when:
“After the 23rd when our show airs, you’ll know more about the Borg.”
As this is a limited series, it should come as no surprise that it would hit the ground running. With the Borg being hinted as part of the significant focus in this series, it feels obvious that they’d be involved from the outset. I’m thrilled that we’re getting confirmation of it!
With a second season featuring the character already looking to shoot next year, you can’t help but wonder if it will continue this Borg and Romulan story that is being hinted at or relate to something else altogether.
Are you looking forward to ‘Star Trek: Picard’? Do you feel that the Borg Collective will still be in operation, or will the individualism that we’ve seen introduced have fractured their honeycomb society? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
‘Star Trek: Picard’ will beam onto your streaming device from CBS All Access on January 23rd, 2020!
