Wonder Woman 1984: First Trailer Rumored To Be Released At CCXP In December
Warner Brothers

Although it may not seem like it, 2019 is almost over.  There’s still plenty to look forward to at the box office this year– ‘Doctor Sleep’, ‘Frozen II’, ‘Jumanji: The Next Level’, and of course ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’— but there are a lot more films headed to theaters in the new year, and studios need to start promoting them.  Rumor has it, the trailer for ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ will debut at the Comic Con Experience in Sāo Paulo, Brazil on December 8th.

This scoop comes courtesy of Trailer Track on Twitter.  I am not familiar with Trailer Track, so I don’t know how trustworthy this information is, but it sounds like a logical time and occasion to release the clip:

The follow-up to 2017’s break-out hit ‘Wonder Woman’ is set to arrive in theaters on June 5, 2020.  Considering some movies release trailers a full year before their release, a December release for this one is actually cutting it kind of close, but it will allow Warner Brothers to position this trailer in front of all the big holiday season releases.

Last year, a ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ trailer was shown at Comic Con Experience Brasil, but was not released online.  Hopefully, that won’t be the case again.

Director Patty Jenkins returns for ‘Wonder Woman 1984’, along with stars Gal Gadot and Chris PineKristen Wiig will portray Barbara Minerva who becomes the ferocious Cheetah.  Pedro Pascal is believed to be playing another villain, Maxwell Lord.  Reportedly, Connie Nielsen and Robin Wright will be back as Hippolyta and Antiope, respectively.

‘Wonder Woman 1984’ was originally scheduled to open this fall, but was pushed back to next summer, as the first ‘Wonder Woman’ was also a summer release and did quite well then.  That picture went on to make $821.8M worldwide.  ‘Aquaman’ was a big hit during the Christmas period last year, but it didn’t have a ‘Star Wars’ movie to contend with.

Comic Con Experience Brasil takes place from December 5-8.
