'Star Trek: Short Treks': Trailer For "The Trouble With Edward"
CBS All Access

The next ‘Star Trek: Short Treks’, entitled “The Trouble with Edward” revisits one of the most popular ideas in the entire ‘Trek’ canon, Tribbles, those cute, fuzzy aliens that procreate at alarming rates.  Rosa Salazar (‘Alita: Battle Angel‘) appears as Starfleet’s latest Captain, Lynne Lucero, who is assuming control of the USS Cabot.  It appears her trial by fire will be in dealing with the latest Tribble infestation, perhaps spurred by Science Officer Edward Larkin, played by H. John Benjamin, who believes he has found a revolutionary new use for the pests.

You may best recognize Benjamin as the spokesman for Arby’s.  This makes me wonder about the restaurant’s slogan “We Have The Meats.”  Okay, I know ‘Star Trek’ isn’t real, but I can’t be the only one who thought that.  You may also recognize Benjamin’s voice, as he plays Archer, Bob from ‘Bob’s Burgers’, and the can of vegetables in ‘Wet Hot American Summer’.

CBS All Access

CBS All Access surprised fans this past weekend by rolling out the new season of ‘Short Treks’ to coincide with New York Comic Con.  “The Trouble With Edward” will be available on Thursday, October 11.

After that, unfortunately, there will be a lag, as it doesn’t appear that the third new ‘Short Trek’ will arrive until November 14.  That one is entitled “Ask Not.”  Two new episodes will be released on December 12– “The Girl Who Made the Stars” and “Ephraim and Dot.”  After that, the last new ‘Short Trek’ for the time being, “Children of Mars” will be released on January 9, 2020.

After that, it will almost be time for ‘Star Trek: Picard’ which premiers on CBS All Access on January 23.

Are you excited to see Anson Mount’s Pike again?  How are you enjoying ‘Star Trek: Short Treks’ in general?
