Hulu’s ‘Helstrom’, based on the Marvel Comics character Daimon Helstrom, a.k.a. The Son of Satan, is moving forward and has announced its main cast. In the title role is Tom Austen, who previously starred on E!’s ‘The Royals’. Sydney Lemmon will portray Daimon’s sister Ana, based on the comic book character Satana. Elizabeth Marvel will portray their mother Victoria Helstrom. The cast also includes Ariana Guerra, Robert Wisdom, June Carryl, and Alain Uy.
Interestingly, Austen’s ‘The Royals’ co-star Elizabeth Hurley has already joined the Hulu Marvel Universe, portraying the sorceress Morgan Le Fay on ‘Runaways’ Season 3, which launches in December.

Below are the character descriptions, courtesy of Deadline:
Daimon Helstrom – A professor of ethics who moonlights as an exorcist, Daimon has no illusions about saving a world he has no patience for; he just hopes he can help a few of the people closest to him. In his battle against a hidden world, Daimon is determined to root out demons as they arise, and will not stop until they’re vanquished.
Austen starred as royal bodyguard Jasper on ‘The Royals’. Prior to that, he has worked almost exclusively in British television, on shows such as ‘Grantchester’, ‘Unforgotten’, ‘Jo’, ‘Beaver Falls’, and ‘The Borgias’. He provided the voice for another comic book character, Tim Drake/Robin in the video game ‘Batman: Arkham VR’.
Sydney Lemmon will portray Ana Helstrom.
By day, Ana runs a successful auction house and suffers no fools, but her true interest lies in hunting down those who hurt others. Traumatized by her father as a child, Ana is driven to rid the world of those like him, even as she secretly worries her father will return.
Lemmon recently appeared as Jennifer on HBO’s ‘Succession’ and she portrayed Isabelle on ‘Fear the Walking Dead’. She also appeared in Netflix’s ‘The Velvet Buzzsaw’.

The aptly-named Elizabeth Marvel can be seen in the new Netflix series ‘Unbelievable’. She also appeared as The Major in the first season of NBC’s hit ‘Manifest’, President Elizabeth Keane on ‘Homeland’, Heather Dunbar on ‘House of Cards. She also recurred as Rita Calhoun on ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’, and portrayed Constance Heck on Season 1 of ‘Fargo’. She previously made an appearance on ‘The Gifted’, the series inspired by Marvel’s ‘X-Men’ comics.
Her character, Victoria Helstrom is described as:
Plagued by demons both real and imagined, Victoria has been institutionalized for twenty years. While she struggles to be herself, she hopes to repair her relationship with her children.
Robert Wisdom (‘Ballers’, ‘The Hot Zone’) portrays Caretaker, “a guardian of knowledge of the occult. He uses his knowledge and his relationship with Ana to help keep demonic forces at bay.”
June Carryl (‘Mindhunter’) plays Dr. Louise Hastings, “a psychologist with a strong faith but an open mind, Hastings is head of the psychiatric hospital where Victoria is being monitored. She has watched over the Helstrom family for years, caring for them as best she can.”
Ariana Guerra (‘Raising Dion’, ‘Insatiable’) portrays Gabriella Rosetti, “a woman balancing logic and faith, Gabriella arrives from the Vatican to help Daimon and Hastings uncover cases of demonic possession. She wants to save everyone she can, including Daimon.”

Finally, Alain Uy (‘The Passage’) has been cast as Chris Yen, “Ana’s business partner and her closest friend — some would say, surrogate brother. He carries out the bulk of the auction house’s responsibilities and assists Ana with whatever she needs.”
Executive producer and showrunner Paul Zbyszewski stated:
“We feel incredibly fortunate to have landed a cast loaded with this much talent. From the beginning, we knew we’d need a group of actors who were multifaceted, who could play all the chords any great Marvel show promises to play, from dramatic thriller to comedy to action. It’s going to be really fun to watch them work.”
Fellow EP Jeph Loeb added:
“Marvel Television is thrilled to have such an amazing cast that enriches Paul’s fantastic writing. The ensemble is the perfect way to bring our audience into our Adventure into Fear franchise causing delicious nightmares of what’s to come!”
‘Helstrom’ was announced in early May, along with a series based on ‘Ghost Rider’. However, a couple of weeks ago, it was announced that ‘Ghost Rider’ had been scrapped due to creative differences. Fortunately, ‘Helstrom’ seems to be working out just fine and continues to move toward production.
