The Dawn Of X

Jonathan Hickman has revitalized and refocussed the “X-Men” franchise with both “House of X” and “Powers of X.” While the full story is still shrouded in mystery, Marvel Comics is giving us a hint at “The Dawn of X” which will show us what happens to mutantkind after these two books come to an end. The book is described as a “tectonic shift in the world of the X-Men will kick start a new era for Marvel’s Mighty Mutants!”

Jonathan Hickman and Leinil Francis Yu are kicking things off with “X-Men’ #1 which is “the first wave of Dawn of X titles will also include new stories and new line-ups for X-Force, the New Mutants, the Marauders, the Fallen Angels, and Excalibur.” So far, the current run has shown us the death of some of Marvel’s most famous mutants which can’t help but have you wondering how they’re walking about in the upcoming books.

As you can see right here, just about every significant mutant which appears to have been killed in the current timeline are back. This makes you wonder if we’re actually reading about the current timeline, if these mutants are homegrown versions of them, if the ones that tied were clones made in a pod, or if time travel will once again end up occurring. Knowing Hickman, the answer will feel like it came out of left field and yet make perfect sense when it finally plays out.
