The upcoming Disney+ series ‘WandaVision’ has a lot of questions to answer; perhaps the biggest being how is The Vision even in it, considering he died in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and was not revived in ‘Avengers: Endgame’. But Paul Bettany is confirmed to be returning in ‘WandaVision’ alongside Elizabeth Olsen and whatever the explanation, it’s guaranteed to be “weird.”
Marvel Studios already described the series as “Exciting and different and strange.” Fans don’t have long to wait to see just how “different and strange,” as ‘WandaVision’ is the first Marvel Studios TV show for Disney+ out of the gate, and will arrive in spring 2020.
Discussing it with IGN, Bettany stated:
“It’s super avant-garde and weird. I don’t think either of us [Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen] could have expected to be going in this — if we were going to continue in this — [and for] it to continue in this direction. I’m so excited, the scripts are amazing. It’s going to be just great to drill down further into these things.”
Following ‘WandaVision’, Marvel Studios is presenting ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ with Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, ‘Loki’ starring Tom Hiddleston, and ‘Hawkeye’ featuring Jeremy Renner. As was just announced at Disney’s D23 Expo, the streaming service will also be home to shows based on ‘She-Hulk’, ‘Moon Knight’ and ‘Ms. Marvel’.
‘WandaVision’ has a pretty interesting cast. Kat Dennings will reprise her role as Darcy Lewis from the first two ‘Thor’ movies, and Randall Park will be back as Jimmy Woo, the FBI agent he played in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’. Teyonah Parris will appear as the grown-up version of Monica Rambeau, who appeared as a child (played by Akira Akbar) in the 1995-set ‘Captain Marvel’. As comic fans know, Monica Rambeau was the first female Captain Marvel and is now known by the name Spectrum. Kathryn Hahn, who voiced Doc Ock in ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’, will play “Wanda’s nosy neighbor.”
Reportedly, the events of ‘WandaVision’ will lead directly into the theatrical film ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, in which it is confirmed Olsen will co-star.
