Beforeigners

If this trailer for ‘Beforeigners’ is any indication, HBO is going to be giving us a fun new series thanks to HBO Europe’s releasing arm! The series stars Nicolai Cleve Broch (‘Acquitted’) and Krista Kosonen (‘Blade Runner 2049‘) in a strange show which gives a new take on time travel. The series was created by Anne Bjørnstad and Eilif Skodvin who previously worked together on Netflix’s ‘Lilyhammer’ and with Jens Lien directing.

The first episode of ‘Beforeigners’ will be debut on HBO Nordic starting on August 21st, 2019 and will be available in the US through WarnerMedia’s various digital platforms.

The show takes place in a modern era, only something strange has started to happen all over Earth. Flashes of light have occurred over the ocean, and with them, people from The Stone Age, The Viking era and late 19th Century come through. The phenomenon hasn’t been explained and these “beforeigners,” as they are called, don’t remember what happened to them. It isn’t an isolated incident either as more keep coming, and they have no way back to their own eras. A few years pass, and we follow a Viking named Alfhildr (Krista Kosonen) and a burned-out police officer Lars Haaland (Cleve Broch) who while investigating the murder of a beforeigner, begin to find out the real reason people from the past are appearing in the present.

The show will consist of 6 45-minute episodes and is being executive produced by Hanne Palmquist, Steve Matthews, and Antony Root. The concept is both bizarre and fun in how original it is. I’m eager for the chance to check this one out!
