Amazon’s ‘Wheel of Time’ fantasy series, based on the books by Robert Jordan, has added five members to the cast– Madeleine Madden, Marcus Rutherford, Barney Harris, Zoë Robins, and Josha Stradowski.  Rosamund Pike was announced as the series’ lead, Moiraine Damodred, in June.

Jordan’s massive ‘Wheel of Time’ saga spans 15 novels, a prequel novel, and two companion books.  Rafe Judkins created the series and will serve as executive producer and showrunner.

Per Deadline:

“Set in a sprawling, epic world where magic exists and only certain women are allowed to access it, the story follows Moiraine, a member of the incredibly powerful all-female organization called the Aes Sedai, as she arrives in the small town of Two Rivers. There, she embarks on a dangerous, world-spanning journey with five young men and women, one of whom is prophesied to be the Dragon Reborn, who will either save or destroy humanity.”

Madden has been cast as Egwene Al’Vere, with Rutherford as Perrin Aybara, Harris as Mat Cauthon, Robins as Nynaeve, and Stradowski as Rand Al’Thor.

Amazon did not release character descriptions, but Egwene Al’Vere is one of the main characters in the series and has super strength.  According to the ‘Wheel of Time’ wiki, Perrin Aybara “is a strong ta’veren, a wolfbrother, and has exceptional skills in manipulating Tel’aran’rhiod. He is also husband to the Lady Faile ni Bashere t’Aybara, first in succession to the vacant throne of Saldaea.”  Nynaeve (full name: el’Nynaeve ti al’Meara Mandragoran) is “is one of the most powerful female channelers currently alive.”  Perhaps most importantly, Rand Al’Thor is considered the most central character in the books, and is described as “the Dragon Reborn, the champion of the Light in the battle against the Dark One, the prophesied savior and breaker of the world.”

Madeleine Madden can currently be seen in ‘Dora and the Lost City of Gold’ and previously starred on Netflix’s ‘Tidelands’.  Marcus Rutherford is a relative newcomer, having starred in the drama ‘Obey’.  Barney Harris starred on the British TV series ‘The Clique’, and appeared in the movies ‘Billionaire Boys Club’ and ‘Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk’.  Zoë Robins starred as Hayley the White Ranger on ‘Power Rangers: Ninja Steel’.  She has also appeared on ‘The Shannara Chronicles’ and on the Australian series ‘The Killian Curse’.  Dutch actor Josha Stradowski has yet to appear in an English language project.  He was most recently seen in the Dutch TV movie ‘Just Friends’.
