Ironheart

With Robert Downey Jr.‘s Tony Stark biting the big one at the end of ‘Avengers: Endgame‘ fans have wanted to see who the torch, or armor, might be passed to. A huge rumor is that Riri Williams as Ironheart could be the perfect replacement to take on the role of the armored hero Iron Man moving forward. The idea has caught so much traction that it was recently brought up to Kevin Feige who weighed in on the thought.

According to the man who is the primary decision maker at Marvel Studios:

“I think it’s a great character, and it’s been fun to see how she evolves in the comics. I just saw that quote, too. But again, the future…”

So while the 15-year-old Riri Williams might eventually grace the big screen, that is an idea for “the future.”

Honestly, this isn’t that surprising a piece of information. Jon Favreau has previously stated that an ‘Iron Man 4‘ isn’t happening anytime soon which is likely how they would end up introducing the character. On top of that, co-writer Christopher Markus has shared to not expect any of the dead Avengers to have a comeback. While we know a new Captain America is on the way, this doesn’t mean that a replacement for Iron Man is.

Williams might fight crime in a suit of armor that can rival Iron Man’s standard suit and while she thinks outside of the box in ways even he hasn’t, there is an entirely different dynamic at play with her character that would fit great with a younger audience.

I also feel that replacing Tony Stark too quickly could take away from the sacrifice which he made to stop Thanos.

Do you wish that Riri Williams would be showing up as Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Would she end up being a suitable replacement for Iron Man while delivering a coming-of-age story for audiences? Share your thoughts in the comments below, True Believers!
