Zendaya

It’s awfully convenient that not only did Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland) get dusted by Thanos’ finger snap in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, but so did all of his friends!  So when Peter rematerialized in ‘Endgame’, five years later, so did all of his schoolmates, as shown when Ned (Jacob Batalon) greeted him when Peter returned to school after the final battle with Thanos.  I mean… what are the odds?!

But rest assured, ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ won’t simply hop right back and move forward without skipping a beat.  Fandango had ‘Far From Home’ stars Batalon, Holland, and Zendaya, who plays Michelle “M.J.” Jones, interview one another and here’s what Zendaya had to say about the effects of “The Snap”:

“[The Snap] kind of puts our characters in a special place, because now we come back and the world’s kind of changed, and we all have to kind of depend on each other a little bit more, because we’re like the oddballs now. We kind of have to confide in each other with that experience, and that’s cool.”

But Holland remarked:

“I don’t think MJ would even be phased by The Snap. She would go and come back and be like, ‘Oh, cool. I’m going to go read a book.'”

Regarding her character’s evolution, Zendaya continued:

“In the first movie obviously you didn’t get to see much of her, but she was like a very guarded, sarcastic, character and I think you get to see why she has that guard, and slowly watch her melt a little bit.”

We’ve already gotten a little tease that Peter and M.J. might develop a more romantic relationship.  Though her name is “Michelle Jones,” she prefers to be called “M.J.” much like Mary Jane Watson, Spidey’s longtime love in the comics.  The two even eventually got married, but with the way comic book continuity is these days, I have no idea if that’s even still canon.

‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ isn’t far from theaters.  Previews will take place on Tuesday, July 2nd, and it will go wide on Wednesday, in order to get a jump on the July 4th holiday.
