As we’re gearing up for the release of Marvel’s ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home,’ we can’t help but wonder how the third film will end the trilogy and if Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios will extend their agreement for future movies. However, if you think that director Jon Watts has a clue how he’ll wrap up the current trilogy, then you’ve got another thing coming! The director is unsure how things will come to an end but with how the Marvel Cinematic Universe maps out their vision – that doesn’t feel like something to worry about.
According to Watts:
“I mean, I try to think about it one movie at a time. We’re definitely telling the story of this kid growing up, and we end the movie putting him in a very unique spot that we really haven’t seen Spider-Man in before in the films. So, I don’t know. For me, I’ll wait until the next one to start to figure out how we’re going to get to where I want it to end.”
With the MCU continually evolving, this should come as no surprise. While Watts likely has a couple of ideas of where to go with the endcap to the trilogy, it probably won’t be hitting for a few years, and Marvel and Sony still have a lot of contract negotiations to work out before it is released. On top of that, Marvel Studios plans out overall arcs years in advance, and part of Peter Parker’s story will likely be defined by the other events which occur in the MCU.
Are you at all surprised that Jon Watts doesn’t have a third film in his Spider-Man trilogy mapped out? Would you be surprised if there was already a plot fully set in stone? Share your thoughts in the comments below, True Believers!
