Avengers: Endgame

The highest grossing comic book movie of all time is getting an injection of fresh blood to push past ‘Avatar’ at the box office as ‘Avengers: Endgame’ is being re-released with new footage! Two months into the run, momentum has stalled. Even though you can still see the film on the big screen, the tease of new scenes will likely draw audiences back for more. Precisely what will be new in ‘Avengers: Endgame’ is a mystery. It sounds like we’ll be able to see it as soon as this coming weekend, at the very least it appears to be coming out before ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home‘ is released.

The news came directly from Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige at the ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ press junket in London! When talking about new footage from the film that could result in a re-release:

“We are doing that. I don’t know if it’s been announced. And I don’t know how much… Yeah, we’re doing it next weekend.”

It wasn’t entirely clear if the announcement was coming this weekend or the re-cut of the film but either way, it is news to be excited for! Hopefully, we’ll know in advance roughly where it is going to be in the movie as adding any time to the 3-hour, and 2-minute film is going to be a strain on all of our bladders.

‘Avengers: Endgame’ has racked up an impressive $2.743 billion at the box office so far and this cut with new scenes might be just what it needs to push past the $2.788 billion haul of James Cameron’s ‘Avatar.’

More details to follow when Marvel Studios officially reveals what will be added in the re-release.

UPDATE:  It has just been announced that the new additions aren’t during the fun of the film but will be in the credits as Feige shared:

“Not an extended cut, but there will be a version going into theaters with a bit of a marketing push with a few new things at the end of the movie. If you stay and watch the movie, after the credits, there’ll be a deleted scene, a little tribute, and a few surprises. Which will be next weekend.”

Will you be giving ‘Avengers: Endgame’ another viewing at your local theater to see these new scenes before the home release later this year? Do you think that this is just the push the film will need to push it into taking over the box office record in all-time global sales? Share your thoughts in the comments below, True Believers!
