We Got More Goose In Captain Marvel Thanks To Kevin Feige

While ‘Captain Marvel’ introduced the world to Brie Larson as Carol Danvers and gave us a younger Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury these two iconic actors weren’t the true stars of the film. In fact, the biggest star wasn’t even a human actor since we all know that Goose the Cat stole the show. As the movie progressed, we found out that Goose was actually an alien known as a Flerken. It was a running gag that the Skrull race was terrified of what was just a little kitty.

That is until we got to see what a Flerken was.

We almost didn’t get nearly as much screen time with Goose as we ended up seeing but it was all saved thanks to one comment. According to co-director Anna Boden:

“When we were working on the first outline for this movie, and we shared it with Kevin Feige, his first note was, ‘We need 200 percent more Goose.'”

Goose was such an iconic character without even a voice and one that retroactively helped define Nick Fury as a character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The only downside to the inclusion of such a great role in ‘Captain Marvel’ is that we didn’t end up getting to see an appearance by Goose in ‘Avengers: Endgame.’ As an alien being who was powerful enough to ingest and keep the tesseract safe within its body for years undetected it feels like there is even more to this cat than we already know.

Are you glad that Kevin Feige wanted “200 percent more Goose” in ‘Captain Marvel’? Do you think that there is a chance we’ll see Goose again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Share your thoughts in the comments below, True Believer!

‘Captain Marvel’ is already available digitally and you can take it home on Blu-Ray June 11th, 2019!
