Spider-Man: Far From Home

The lighthearted ‘Ant-Man’ served as the end of Marvel Studios’ Phase 2, working as a nice pallet-cleaner, and now it looks as though ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ will serve the same purpose for Phase 3.  Not only that, but this film, directed by Jon Watts, also caps the “Infinity Saga,” as Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige refers to the first 11 years worth of Marvel movies.

In the new film, Peter Parker (Tom Holland)… and the entire world… must grapple with the loss of his mentor and one of the Earth’s greatest champions, Tony Stark/Iron Man.  Perhaps hoping to deal with his grief, Peter heads to Europe on a class trip with all his buddies, including Ned (Jacob Batalon), M.J. (Zendaya), Betty (Angourie Rice), and Flash Thompson (Tony Revolori), as well as newcomer Brad Davis (Remy Hii).  In a wild coincidence, with the possible exception of Brad, ALL of Peter’s friends got turned to dust when Thanos snapped his fingers in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, so they all returned at the same time, the same age as they were five years ago!  Isn’t that convenient?!

Also back is the gang’s chaperone, Mr. Harrington (Martin Starr), and he will be assisted by fellow teacher Mr. Bell (J.B. Smoove).

As shown in the trailers, Peter will be working closely with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders).  Also working with him is a new hero (?) from a parallel universe, Quentin Beck/Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal).

Marvel and Sony have released six new posters, including four featuring the biggest stars of ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’– Peter, Mysterio, Fury, and M.J.  There are also two that combine the images of Peter, Mysterio, and Fury.  One has a huge spider symbol in the background.  The other has Mysterio’s triangle/pyramid symbol.
