Clark Gregg's New Team For 'Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.'

When Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ returned this year we also saw that Clark Gregg was back as an actor as well! We’ve known he would be coming back in some capacity, but the mysterious new Sarge character clearly isn’t Agent Coulson based on his actions. In fact, he doesn’t seem to be from our Earth having no idea what S.H.I.E.L.D. is. While it isn’t clear if Sarge is from an alternate Earth or is an alien, he clearly has an agenda.

With him is Brooke Williams (’12 Monkeys’) as Snowflake, Winston James Francis (‘Happy Together’) as Jaco, and Matt O’Leary (‘Project Blue Book’) as Pax. Not much is known about the team yet outside of the fact that they are incredibly loyal to Sarge.

Of his new character, Clarke has previously shared:

“He seems to be on a mission. It’s not clear what’s involved, but they’re hunting something, and they don’t care who or what they have to kill to find whatever they’re hunting. He’s the anti-Coulson in that way. Phil Coulson was never comfortable much with collateral [damage]. This guy, as the kids say, he has no sh—s to give.”

While their mission is a mystery, Clarke stated that his new team is “after something more subtle in the sci-fi realm.”

It seems unlikely that the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will find a way to return Coulson to the land of the living in Sarge’s body but the season is still young and anything is possible on this show.
