We’ve known that Clark Gregg would be returning to Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘ as a new character but fans who were hoping that somehow this could mean the return of Agent Phil Coulson are likely to be disappointed. At the end of the fifth season, he was being dropped off in Tahiti with Agent May to spend his final days, and that does appear to be what happened. From all the hints in this new trailer, it would appear that this new character who likes exactly like Coulson could very well be an alien from another world.
While the chances he would look exactly like Coulson seem impossible, I’m sure we’ll find some kind of an explanation by the time the season comes to a close.

As a shorter season and quite possibly the penultimate season of the series we’ve learned so far that it will not be addressing the events of ‘Avengers: Endgame’ but that it will also take place a year after we left things off.

While this new Coulson look-alike will be the primary focus of the show, we also do see a quick shot at Fitz who is still in a cryofreeze and I hope we won’t have to wait the entire season to get him back.
With Gregg’s new character being an alien and others looking to be introduced in the series you have to wonder how many of these will be introduced as S.H.I.E.L.D. works on recovering Fitz from the depths of space.
