The CW Renews 'The 100' For a Seventh Season

Just as the sixth season of ‘The 100’ has premiered, comes some good news– The CW has renewed it for a seventh.  This renewal was announced along with pickups for ‘All American’, ‘In the Dark’ (which hasn’t even aired yet) and ‘Roswell, New Mexico’.  Back in January, The CW renewed ‘Charmed’, ‘Legacies’, ‘Arrow’‘The Flash’‘Legends of Tomorrow’‘Supergirl’‘Black Lightning’,  ‘Dynasty’, ‘Riverdale’ and ‘Supernatural’.  Of course, after that, it was announced that the next season of ‘Arrow’ would be its last and would only consist of ten episodes.  (Separately, Emily Bett Rickards announced she would not return.)  That was followed by the announcement that ‘Supernatural’ would also be leaving the air after next season, the show’s 15th!

The sixth season of ‘The 100’ finds the show’s cast on a new planet, where the inhabitants turn homicidal during solar eclipses.  Where things go from there remains to be revealed, but just a warning, showrunner Jason Rothenberg admitted “nobody has any f–king clue where this season is going.”  But he also teased:

“The big mystery of the season — the real story — hasn’t even been touched upon.”

Eliza Taylor stars on ‘The 100’ as Clarke Griffin, with Bob Morley as Bellamy Blake, Marie Avgeropoulos as Octavia Blake, Henry Ian Cusick as Marcus Kane, Lindsey Morgan as Raven Reyes, Richard Harmon as John Murphy, Tasya Teles as Echo and Paige Turco as Dr. Abby Griffin.

‘Roswell, New Mexico’ is a new series that just began airing in January, but appears to have done pretty well.  ‘All American’ is the network’s poorest performing new series, but it’s still coming back.  The network’s lowest-rated series overall is ‘Dynasty’ which airs on Friday nights.  It recently had to recast its lead character, Alexis Carrington, after star Nicollette Sheridan opted to leave the series.

Are you a fan?  Are you glad this series is coming back?

‘The 100’ airs on Tuesday nights, at 9 pm EST.  Past seasons are available on Netflix.
